Since the school unkind words used against gays and lesbians push them to remain invisible. They often experience discrimination and harassment in the workplace, in many countries / their partners are not legally recognized, and rarely there are positive examples of LGBT representations in the media when they need treatment for themselves or / their partners are reluctant to be in situations where the 'heterosexuality is a guarantee, when they retire they are seldom understood their needs.

And if they ask for refugee status because they are persecuted in their countries (and risking even death) for their sexual orientation or gender identity, are often not believed or simply refused.

The invisibility is not a choice. It 'a survival strategy to avoid being EXPOSED * discrimination, verbal and physical violence, harassment or abuse.

In psychology (and other) too often we see situations hallucinating:

  • Physicians or psychologists or psychotherapists who do not even know the difference between gender identity and sexual orientation.
  • Doctors, even better if gynecologists, who assume the heterosexuality of scontanto / lle their patients.
  • Psychologists, physicians, psychotherapists, etc. ... that are aimed at males but before them there is a fine woman made up, dressed and often more beautiful than biological women.
  • Journalists continue to write as above the tranny talking about Patricia or Laura or Stephanie or Katia. And of course they do not know what a FtM ...

In Italy discrimination and homophobia reign supreme. Surely you remember the sharp NO's Catholic Church, followed by the Italian government to accede to the French proposal for the UN to decriminalize homosexuality worldwide. And the nice phrase of Senator Binetti on the introduction of the crime of homophobia in the security package that was the basis for the fall of the Prodi government. Or the stunning views of the Minister Carfagna on the "sterility of the constitutional gay", unless a recovery groped for a corner by saying "to have gay friends."

Here, as Victor says Lingiardi in the preface of the book " Good Parents "by Chiara Lalli:" It goes without saying: <Ho gay> many friends. Need to live in a state capable of giving all citizens equal opportunity, equal rights. "
